![]() ![]() By the time you get to him, he’s on his knees in tears with your squad mate’s dead bodies lying around him. screaming your name and various other things. At the end of the mission you hear the other Sgt. During one mission, half of your squad is left under the command of another Sgt. But there’s this one that keeps coming back to me and giving me chills. He often mentions his family, more often his father and things he remembers being taught. ![]() Most of the time, it’s off topic banter relating to other squad mates and your past history with them. A voice over plays as you await the battle. Not that I’m a WWII expert or anything – but they’ve included lots of ‘extras’ that you unlock as you play – which include ‘then and now’ photos of various locations used in the game as well as structural recreations that are mind blowing.īefore each mission, there’s a black screen with the title of your next mission and the date. It’s based on a true story with the highest level of accuracy and authenticity I’ve seen in a game. BIA is such a unique experience that it soars above the rest in a place all it’s own. You can’t even compare the dozens of other WWII FPS to it – there’s simply no comparison. It is still for sale, you have been warned.I’m not gonna beat around the bush here… Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30 is one of the best games I’ve ever played, hands down. Whenever you see a blocked street, you can be sure that there is a hole in the hedge, wall or whatever nearby, leading to the flanking "tunnel" you will soon learn to detest. Other design failures that appear in nearly every level are things like endless supplies of spawning enemies, totally irreal forced pathways (in the open instead of behind some cover) and sadly the repetitive flanking "leveldesign" that keeps appearing. Third, the "AI" and level trigger points are absolutely ridiculous.īe it your comrades who fail to squeeze through a 3 meter gap between a wall and a telephone post, running forth and back until killed, be it the spawn of a complete tank (Sturmgeschütz) directly in your back when leaving a freshly cleaned courtyard that is surrounded by 2 meter high granite walls.ĭont worry about AI buddies being killed in any level, they will respawn at the next level start until the "story" sees fit that they die. This game is needlessly frustrating and definitely not worth playing, unless you want to experience a collection of the most annoying game "design" failures that befall and befoul uncreative and generic FPS games.įirst, none of the utterly boring and generic movie sequences may be skipped, not even for those masochistic enough to try to play the game on a higher difficulty level, which makes playing through on a lower level mandatory. ![]()
